FAQS

  • Where do you get the rugs?

We source our vintage rugs from all over Morocco. Due to the increasing scarcity of quality vintage rugs, we work with multiple trusted vendors that we know and visit personally, to source from the widest selection possible. We use other trusted vendors for our custom contemporary carpets, who have extensive experience in creating custom rugs of the highest quality wool.

  • Do you ship worldwide? What is the cost to ship?

As of now, we only ship to the U.S. and shipping is included. If you live outside the U.S. and are interested in a rug, contact us!

  • Do you accept returns?

We don’t accept returns. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us in advance.

  • Why are the vintage rugs odd sizes? Where’s the 7’x9’ and 8’x10’ options?

While our homes in the U.S. seem to follow the bigger is better model, these rugs are OLD! And made for (and in!) modest Moroccan homes. They were woven on looms that were no more than 6 feet wide, so generally you won’t find vintage rugs wider than this. There are several creative options for a larger space that we can discuss, such as layering rugs or using multiple smaller rugs in coordinating colors. We can also provide larger contemporary rugs in any size.

  • What are the rugs made out of?

Typically, they are mostly made of wool, with some including cotton and other materials. We will do our best to accurately describe the materials in the product description.

  • What can I expect as far as the condition of the rugs?

Our vintage rugs have lived a life before finding their way to Vintage Maroc. They may have normal signs of wear, depending on age and condition, which may include worn spots, repairs, fading or discoloration, or other imperfections. We love this about them and believe it adds to the charm. If you want a “perfect” rug, let’s collaborate on a custom project!

  • How do I keep them clean?

Our rugs are cleaned prior to shipping, but may arrive with a faint odor (wool!). Don’t be alarmed - this is normal and will go away in a few days, after the rug airs out. You can vacuum the rug on a low setting or shake the rug outside for general cleaning. If you spill a liquid on the rug, blot it dry as best as you can. Generally, you can spot clean with natural soap and water, but consult a professional cleaner for any larger or darker messes. A rug pad is suggested to prolong the life of your rug, but it is not absolutely necessary.

  • Is it safe to visit Morocco? What about solo travelers?

Yes! Morocco is very safe and welcoming, even to solo travelers, and women travelers

(and solo women travelers!)! Of course, use common precautions when traveling that would be the same for anywhere you would visit. Morocco is a deeply historical culture, so be sure to use respect when visiting local sights and interacting with locals. Be careful not to take pictures of faces without permission - it can be seen as disrespectful.
