Vintage Marmoucha

5’10”x9’

La Mamounia // Love, love, love this piece - named for the gorgeous patterned tile at the pool patio of the iconic La Mamounia hotel in Marrakech. The perfect peach and steely-grey teal is one of my favorite color combinations. This rug is thick and luxe, and has an added bonus of the back side being perhaps nicer than the front. Feel free to flip it over if you want a change-up. Amazing for a bedroom or living room.

Vintage rugs have been sourced throughout Morocco.  Each is hand woven by local Amazigh (Berber) women, generally in rural areas of Morocco, with weaving techniques passed down through generations, from mother to daughter.  Each Amazigh tribe uses different techniques in their weaving or knotting, use of color, and use of symbolism or design, which is modified further by each individual.  Vintage rugs typically use natural wool and natural colors developed from plant and vegetable dyes.

Because of the handmade nature and age of these rugs, each has lived a previous life and show signs of normal wear, which may include fading or discoloration, repairs, or other imperfections.  These are normal and add to the character of the piece.
